The Challenge

The Kids Can Act Project was primarily visible through Instagram, making it hard for potential stakeholders—parents, schools, sponsors, and media—to engage with or understand the full scope of its impact. There was no central platform to showcase the children’s performances, explain the mission, or drive donations and participation. The project needed a website that not only informed but inspired.

Problem Statement

How might we create an intuitive, engaging, and informative website that reflects the energy and mission of Kids Can Act, while serving the needs of parents, donors, and schools?

Homepage

The landing page uses big, bold images of the kids performing, paired with compelling headlines and scroll-based animations. This created emotional pull right from the first scroll.

Performance Archive

I introduced a "Portfolio page" for each child where past performances/project could be showcased in a gallery format. It serves both as a memory bank and proof of impact for directors/casing agent

Donations & Partnerships CTA

The call-to-actions were designed to feel organic—not salesy—blending storytelling with purpose. Simple forms and contact pathways were added for seamless engagement.

Mobile-First Design

Knowing the target users are mostly mobile users (based on IG engagement), I optimized the layout for mobile, ensuring touch-friendly buttons and fast-loading pages.

User-Centered Wins

  1. Accessibility Consideration: I used high-contrast colors and ensured font sizes were readable across all devices.

  2. Feedback Loop: After the first launch, we received feedback from users who said, “This feels like a space where the kids truly shine.”

  3. Analytics: Within 3 weeks, the site had over 800 unique visitors, 2 new school inquiries, and 5 new donor contacts.

Personal Takeaway

This project reminded me how design is a bridge—between intention and impact, between story and audience.

I’m proud to have created a platform that celebrates children, drives action, and brings a community together.
